Mrs. Nona Morgan, 62, Arlington, VA, formerly of Cumberland, died yesterday in Arlington Hospital, where she had been a patient for a year.

Born in Cumberland, Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Millholland. She was married to Dr. Thomas B. McDonald and lived here until his death. She later was married to the late Johnson Morgan and lived in Washington.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church here. She leaves two children, Brig. Gen. Thomas D. McDonald, Arlington, now in Burma and Mrs. Ogden M. Pratt, Fairfield, Ohio.

Other Survivors are five brothers and a sister, John Millholland, Louisa, Va.; Allan C. Millholland, Fishkill, N.Y.; William M. Millholland, Birmingham, Ala.; Beverley Millholland, Cumberland, and Miss Martha Millholland, Baltimore.

Dr. Thos. B. McDonald Victim of Pneumonia

Prominent Practitioner Passes Away After Brief Illness at the Age of 52.

Dr. Thomas Benton McDonald, 53 years of age, Prospect Square, died at 3 o’clock this morning from pneumonia. Dr. McDonald had been ill for several days.

Dr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nona Millholland McDonald, one son, Tomas B., and a daughter, Anna R McDonald.

He is survived also by three sisters, Mrs. John W. Childress, Washington; Mrs. George Bradley, Bethesda, Md; Miss Mary J. McDonald, Rockville, and one brother Charles McDonald, Rockville.

Dr. McDonald was the second son of the late Hon. John McDonald, of Rockville, former congressman from the Sixth Maryland district, and a major of the U.S. Army, retired.

Dr. McDonald first attended Rockville Academy, and then the Maryland Agricultural College. He graduated in medicine and surgery from Georgetown University of Medicine in 1894.

Dr. McDonald served on the staff of the emergency Hospital, Washington, for two years. In 1898 he established offices in the southern section of this city and soon thereafter became associated with Dr. James T. Johnson.

Dr. McDonald was considered one of the leading physicians and surgeons of the city. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Rockville and was affiliated with Cumberland Lodge, No. 63, B.P.O. Elks, this city.

The funeral will take place from the home tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock and interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Ambrose H. Beavin, rector of Emmanuel Protestant Episcopal Church, will officiate.

Charles McDonald, brother, Rockville and Mrs. VanLear P. Shriver, sister of Mrs. McDonald, of Sewickly, Pa. are here to attend the funeral. Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Childress, and Miss McDonald are expected here tonight.

The pallbearers will be chosen from among the families of both the late Dr. and Mrs. McDonald. Cumberland Elks will observe their ritual.


Obituary for Johnson Riker Morgan, Richmond Times Dispatch October 27, 1934

Connected with the United States Forestry Service in charge of miscellaneous construction work and active superintendent of the CCC Camp at Vesuvius, John R. Morgan, 55, died in a hospital here after a week’s illness and the body was taken to Washington, his home, for burial in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Morgan was born in Cumberland, Md., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Morgan, his father dying in 1928. He was the former owner of the Wyoming Apartments in Washington. He was a direct descendant of Thomas Lee, Colonial Governor of Virginia and of Maryland’s first Governor, Thomas Johnson; also of Colonel Morgan, organizer of Frederick County, Va., prior to the Revolutionary War.

He is survived by his aged mother, Washington, and these children: Johnson R. Morgan, Wilmington, Del., John McChesney Morgan, University of Virginia; Miss Agnes Morgan, Knox School, Cooperstown, N. Y.; two brothers; Thomas Morgan and H. W. Morgan, Washington; four sisters, Mrs. W. S. McLeod, Rockville, Md.; and Mrs. Edith M. Stevens, Mrs. Trevia M. Carr, and B. Lowndes Jackson, in or near Washington. Mr. Morgan was twice married, his first wife having been Miss Bessie McChesney, Washington and Virginia; his second Mrs. Nona Millholland McDonald, Cumberland, Md.

Thomas Benton McDonald was born on June 19, 1907, in Cumberland, MD and died on June 20, 1982, in Orange County, FL. He married Marion Farrar Warren on May 31, 1934, in Honolulu, HI. She was born on August 30, 1912, in Honolulu, HI and died on January 10, 2004, in Winter Park, FL. Thomas and Marion are both buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Mr. Thomas Benton McDonald, 75, 1630 Cheyenne Trail, Maitland, died Sunday. Born in Cumberland, Md., he moved to Maitland from there in 1964. He was a retired major general in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church of Winter Park. He was a member of West Point Society of Central Florida, Retired Officers Association and Order of Daedalians, Survivors: wife, Marion; sons Thomas B. III, MacDill Air Force Base, Warren Randolph, Springfield, Va.; sister, Mrs. Anna McDonald Pratt, Bozman, Md.; four grandchildren. Garden Chapel Home for Funerals, Orlando.


Obituary for Marion Farrar Warren, The Orlando Sentinel January 13, 2004

Shepard, Marion Warren McDonald, 91, of Winter Park, went to be with the Lord January 10, 2004. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents transplanted from California and Massachusetts. She graduated from the private Punahou School and completed two years of college in Hawaii. In her adolescent years, she was a correspondent for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, taught Sunday school and was church secretary for Central Union Church. She became a member of the National League of American Pen Woman. In 1934 she married Lieutenant Thomas B. MacDonald, a 1929 graduate of the United States Military Academy, later to become a Major General, US AF. She was elected President of the Officers Wives Club at Wright-Patterson AFB, was active in amateur acting in the Footlights Club in Honolulu, and yet lists her proudest civic accomplishment as being a Den Mother for five years with the Cub Scout pack at Wright-Patterson AFB. They settled in Maitland in 1959 and attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park until the death of her husband after 48 years of marriage. Later she married Colonel Harvey E. Shepherd, USA, Ret., in All Saints Episcopal Church and they settled in the Mayflower Retirement Community until his death in October 2000. They traveled extensively during the early years. She was always known as an ardent advocate and lover of all things Hawaiian. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for over 14 years, two sons survive her from her first marriage; Colonel Thomas B. MacDonald III, USA, Ret., who has three married daughters and six grandchildren, and Colonel Warren R. MacDonald, USAF, Ret., who has one married daughter and one grandson. Memorial services will be held January 14 at All Saints Episcopal Church at 10 AM and at Mayflower Retirement Community at 1:30 PM. Donations are solicited in her name for the Retirement Fund of the Mayflower Retirement Community or to All Saints Episcopal Church. Interment of her ashes will be at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later time.

Bozman - Anna M. Pratt, of Bozman, died at The Memorial Hospital at Easton on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002. She was 84.

Born in Cumberland, Aug. 22, 1918, She was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas B. and Nona Millholland McDonald. A resident of Talbot County since 1970, she was a member of the Talbot Country Club, the Poplar Island Yacht Club and attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Easton. Her hobbies included playing bridge and golf.

Her husband, Colonel Ogden Nelson Pratt, U.S.A.F. Ret. whom she married on June 14, 1941, in Middletown, Pa. died Oct. 8, 1999.

Mrs. Pratt is survived by a daughter, Susan R. Pratt of Bozman; two sons, Douglas M. Pratt of Rowayton, Conn. and Dr. William F. Pratt of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 11 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbiein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. Easton, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Private burial will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Eastern Shore at Beulah. Obituary for Ogden N. Pratt, The Star Democrat (Easton, Maryland) October 11, 1999

Bozman - Ogden Nelson Pratt, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, died at his home here Friday Oct. 8, 1999. He was 87.

Born in East Hartford, Conn. on May 15, 1912, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Agnes Halvorsdatter Pratt.

After receiving his wings at Randolph and Kelly Fields, Texas, in 1939. Mr. Pratt served actively for more than 35 years in the military service of his country retiring to Boaman in 1970. He also was a past commodore of the Poplar Island Yacht Club.

Mr. Pratt is survived by his wife, the former Anna Randolph McDonald, whom he married June 14, 1941; two sons, Douglas and William, a daughter, Susan, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels, on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah.
