Obituary for John Keim Millholland, The Evening Times (Cumberland) March 03, 1949

John Keim Millholland, 71, formerly of Cumberland died early this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence H. Osbourne, Russell, Ky., following a lingering illness.

A native of Cumberland, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Millholland. He was a retired master mechanic for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. Prior to leaving Cumberland 20 years ago, he had been employed by the George’s Creek and Baltimore and Ohio railroads.

Surviving, besides his daughter, are his widow, the former Miss Estelle DeVries of Cumberland; two sons, John K. and William DeVries Millholland, both of Virginia; four brothers, Randolph Millholland, Cumberland; Allen Millholland, Fishkill, N.Y.; McIlvain Millholland, Birmingham, Ala., and Beverley Millholland, Washington, a sister, Miss Martha Washington Millholland, Baltimore; two half-brothers, William Millholland, New York, and Paul Millholland, Dobbs Ferry, and a half sister, Miss Cary Millholland, Washington. William DeVries, Cumberland, is a brother-in-law. His stepmother, Mrs. James A. Millholland, Washington, also survives.

RUSSELL, Ky. – Mrs. Estelle Millholland, widow of J.K. Millholland, died Thursday at the Ironton (Ohio) Hospital following a brief illness.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Millholland were former residents of Cumberland. She was a daughter of the late William and Anna Mary (Humbird) DeVries.

Surviving are two sons, William D Millholland, Charlottesville, Va., and J.K. Millholland, Jr., Louisa, VA, a daughter, Mrs. C.H. Osborne, Russell, a brother, William DeVries, Cumberland, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The body is at the residence, where services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be in Ashland, Ky., Cemetery.

CPO, William DeVries Osborne, US Navy (Ret), 78, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2001. He wasborn in Ironton, Ohio and had lived many years in Jacksonville formally of Melbourne, FL. Chief Osborne retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. He then became a Recruiting Agent in the Insurance Industry and retired in 1971. His memberships include VFW, Civil Air Patrol, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah L. Amy and her husband Joe, and Delores D. Osborne, and his wife Dianne, Micco, FL. A graveside service with full military honors will be held 10AM in Arlington Park Cemetery, October 17, 2001, with Rev. Steven McCollum officiating. Flavis Joe Barnard Jr. (Joey” “Pops”) went to his heavenly home on October 29, 2020. Joey was born on December 13, 1955, in Norfolk, VA, but grew up in Jacksonville and later moved to Green Cove Springs. He was a graduate of Terry Parker High School in 1973.

Following high school, he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Dolores Osborne and have been happily married for 45 years. Joey worked for Vanguard Industries in the area of military insignia sales for most of his adult life.

He was known mainly as “Pops” by his children, grandkids, and also his close friends. He earned this name because of the love he always showed everyone around him, making them feel like they were part of his family, he was their “Pops” too. Pops loved the outdoors and devoted his free time to his family enjoying it. They would spend quality time camping at Ocean Pond hunting, fishing or just enjoying their time together.

Flavis J. Barnard Jr. was predeceased by his parents Wilma Jean and Flavis J. Barnard, Sr.; sister, Patricia Keener, and brother, A.L. (Buddy) Barnard. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dolores Barnard; daughter, Kimberly Potter (Josh); son, Flavis J. Barnard III (J.T.); three grandsons, Dalton Barnard, Parker Stalvey, and Luke Barnard; sisters, Pam Farmer (Tommy), Melinda Hayes (Larry), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that held a huge place in his heart.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 4, 2020, at Arlington Park Cemetery, with a celebration of Joey’s life following at the family’s home.

Mr. George Richard Osborne, 80, of Waycross, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, died Sunday (April 6, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born July 7, 1928, in Ironton, Ohio and was a longtime resident of Palm Bay, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Clarence Osborne, and a brother, William Osborne. He is survived by his wife, Dianne; three children, Sue Osborne, of Palm Coast, Fla., George Osborne, of Woodstock, Ga., and Brett Boatright (wife Jessica) of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jordan, Justin and Piper; a sister, Estelle Crawford of Sarasota, Fla.; and loving in-laws, nephews, nieces, including Jimmy and Fern Brown and family, Jimmy and Terralyn Brown and family, Dell and Michal Brown and family, Hope and Perry Lovin and family, all of Waycross; Robert and Lisa Boatright and family, Melissa and Brett Tougas and family, all of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and Steven Boatright of Nevada.

Mary N. Osborne, 59, of 810 Howie Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 17 at a local hospital. She was a native of Vandergrift, PA, and came to Fort Pierce from Russell, KY, in 1956.

Survivors include her husband, George Osborne of Fort Pierce; a son, George Osborne, Jr. of Fort Pierce; a daughter, Linda Susan Osborne of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Nawrocki of New York, Ted Nawrocki of Leechburg, PA, and Henry Nawrocki of White Plains, NY; and a sister, Mrs. Stella Palermo of Vandergrift.

Graveside services will be held today at 10 a.m. at White City Cemetery. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Those who wish may contribute to the March of Dimes.

Estelle Crawford, 87 years old, born in Louisa, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2019, with her husband of 68 years, Earl Crawford, by her side in Sarasota, Florida.

Estelle, the daughter of Clarence and Virginia Osborne, moved to Russell, Kentucky as a child and graduated from Russell High School in 1949, where she was voted “Most Beautiful” and was in the book of “Who’s Who in America.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Hobart, George, and William Osborne.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Earl of 68 years and daughters, Jinny Carman (Larry), Kathy Quandt (Brent) and Bertie Elizabeth Peck (Glenn), grandchildren, Matthew and Meredith Carman, Nicholas Brata and Brent (BJ) Quandt; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Adam, Zachary, Lucas, Andrew, and Abigail.

She was raised in the Methodist Church in Russell, was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Christ, Flatwoods, Kentucky, and the Trinity Nazarene Church, Sarasota, Florida.

Among her many accomplishments was that she was a professional baker, a tireless volunteer in her church and she was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a God Loving and inspiring mother to all of us and will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest high on that mountain!

Services are private. Interment will be at the Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Kentucky.

Marie Millholland Clark, 87, of Woodbridge, formerly of Louisa, passed away on April 16, 2018.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Keim Millholland Jr. and Mildred Douglas Millholland; her younger brother, John Keim Millholland III; and her husband, Robert D. Clark Sr. She is survived by her son Bobby Jr. (Elena) of Fairfax; her daughter, Joan, of Woodbridge; and grandchildren, John, and Dani.

Marie graduated from Louisa County High School in 1948 and worked as a switchboard operator for Louisa Telephone Co. Mom loved her family and all her pets throughout the years. She was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed walking trails with Bobby Jr. and Dani, and taking pictures of all God's nature. Marie loved all family gatherings from birthdays to holidays and especially enjoyed the food.

She will be missed and remembered with love, always.

A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, April 23 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa.

John Keim Millholland, III, 82, of Louisa passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, in his home.

Mr. Millholland was a U.S. Army vet, serving in Korea. He was a lifelong Louisa resident and a member of the Louisa United Methodist Church. He was active in Boy Scouts as an assistant scoutmaster and coached and managed the Louisa Little League Baseball Mets team.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Millholland of Louisa; son John Keim Millholland IV of Spotsylvania, daughter Amy Schick (John) of Louisa; grandchildren Christopher, Joshua, Stephanie, Meg, and Anna; great-grandchildren C.J., Isaiah, Zeke, and Bella; sister Marie M. Clark of Woodbridge; nephew Bobby and niece Joan; and cousins Gay Ann Hart, Jo Busbee, and Estelle Crawford.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3 at Louisa United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
