Obituary for Lewis Curtis Millholland Cumberland Evening Times Tuesday June 15, 1945

A former general manager of the old United States Rail Company here, Lewis Curtis Millholland, 70, of Bowling Green, died last night in Allegheny Hospital. He had been a patient since last Wednesday.

Born at Mt. Savage, a son of the late James A. and Virginia (Keim) Millholland, Mr. Millholland at one time was an assistant to his father who was president and general manager of the Georges Creek and Cumberland Railroad. Earlier, his father was general manager of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad at Mt. Savage. His grandfather, the late James Millholland, was once the president of the Consolidated Coal Company.

After serving in the capacity of general manager of the rail company, Mr. Millholland left Cumberland and moved to Bradford, Va. where for a number of years he was associated in the coal business. Subsequently, he worked for a short time with the Vang Construction Company at Belle Vernon, Pa. before returning to Cumberland.

Recently Mr. Millholland was employed by Metger Brothers here and worked with that firm until he became ill a week ago.

His survivors include a son, Storekeeper Second Class Lewis C. Millholland, Jr. with the Seabees in the Pacific; a daughter Sgt. Frances West Millholland with the WAC in England; five brothers, Randolph, Beverley, McIlvaine, John K., and Allen Millholland, and two sisters, Mrs. Johnson Morgan, and Miss Martha Millholland.

The body is at Stein funeral home, where private services will be held tomorrow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. David C. Watson, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal church, officiating. The body will be placed in the mausoleum at Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Minnie Millholland, 79, died this morning at the home of son, Lewis C. Millholland, Jr., 17 Brant Road Cresaptown, following an illness of three years.

Born at Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Thomas H. and Frances (Hennen) West. Mrs. Millholland was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Her husband Lewis C. Millholland, preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Frances W. Millholland, Washington, and three sisters, Mrs. Alice W. Smith, Cresaptown; Mrs. Grace W. Webb, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. William H. Markwood, Keyser.

The body will remain at the George Funeral Home.

Lewis C. Millholland, Jr., 67, of Brandt Road, Cresaptown, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been a patient four weeks.

Born at Fairmont, W. Va., he was the son of the late Lewis C. and Minnie (West) Millholland, Sr. Mr. Millholland was a veteran of World War II andwas a retired employee of Celanese Fibers Company. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his widow, Katherine (Keffer) Millholland; two sons, Lewis C. III, Gasport, N.Y. and William K. Millholland, Gaithersburg; a daughter, Mrs. Sue Martin, Silver Spring; and 11 grandchildren.

The body is at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Services will be conducted there tomorrow at 1 p.m. by Rev. Finley J. Cooper. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Obituary for Katharine Vivian Keffer, Cumberland Times-News June 20, 1992

CRESAPTOWN – Katharine “Kitty” Millholland, 83, formerly of Cresaptown, who resided for several years in Somerset, Pa., died Friday June 19, 1992, at the Patriot Manor Nursing Home, Somerset.

Born on July 29, 1908, in Connellsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Isabelle (Crawford) Keffer.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis C. Millholland, Jr. on Nov. 12, 1973.

She was a 40-year volunteer worker for the American Red Cross and a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Martin, and her husband Jack, two sons, Lewis C. Millholland III, Gasport, NY, and William K. Millholland, Damascus: one sister. Elinor Hoon, Clearwater, Fla., 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, formerly the Silcox-Merritt, 404 Decatur Street, Sunday from 7-9 p.m.

Services will be conducted there Monday at 9 a.m. by the Rev. Edward C. Chapman. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Millholland, William K. Millholland, Jr., Peter N. Millholland, Stephen A. Millholland, Lewis C. Millholland IV, and Bryan Moore.

Lewis C. Millholland, 76 years old, of Gasport, NY, died on May 22, 2007, at home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born August 11, 1930, in Connellsville, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis C. and Katherine V. (Keffer). He married Doris M. Barker on August 18, 1975.

Lewis attended the University of Buffalo and subsequently was employed by the University in 1959,retiring in 1998 as a photographer. He was an avid wood turner and a member of the Lockport Woodturners Club. He and his wife entered their crafts in various local craft shows and craft boutiques, but he received more pleasure giving his creations away rather than selling them. He was generous with his skill and enjoyed encouraging beginning woodturners.

In addition to his current wife of 32 years, Doris M. Millholland and former wife Jean M. Millholland of Buffalo, he is survived by sons, George (Barbara) Millholland of Colorado, Leonard (Denise) Millholland of Virginia, and stepson Alex (Carol) Barker of North Tonawanda. Brother of Sue (Jack) Martin of Somerset, PA, and William (Patricia) Millholland or Gaithersburg, MD. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport. A short service will follow the evening hours.

CUMBERLAND — Mary Alice Millholland, 80, of Cumberland, died on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Allegany County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Aug. 4, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George Walter Brown and Helen Shaffer (Volk) Brown. Mrs. Millholland was also preceded in death by a sister, Georgia A. Younger.

Mrs. Millholland retired from Hercules. She was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church; a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star McKinley Chapter 12; and the Mount Savage Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Millholland is survived by her sons, Sergeant First Class United States Army Retired George Millholland and his wife Barbara, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sheriff Leonard Millholland, Winchester, Va.; her sister, H. Elizabeth Brown-Shank, LaVale; her brother-in-law, Robert H. Younger, Mechanicsville; her daughter-in-law, Denise Millholland, Winchester; her grandchildren, Brandon Millholland, Alison Millholland, Rob Millholland and his wife Kristal and Melanie Millholland; as well as one great-granddaughter, Annalisa Rose Millholland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Sunday, July 1, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Order of the Eastern Star McKinley Chapter 12 will hold a memorial service on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, July 2, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Millholland, Rob Millholland, Sheriff David Goad, Sergeant Ron Brown, Lieutenant Steven Schellhaus and Sheriff Leonard Millholland. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert H. Younger.

Interment will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Barbara Victoria Allee was born September 20, 1957, in Cumberland, Maryland to William T. Allee and Thelma H. (Morale) Allee. She came into her family as the youngest sister. Lynn, Carole, and Diana welcomed and cherished her.

She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and Attended Prince George’s Community College.

As the Worthy advisor of Rainbow Girls, Barbara had the responsibility of welcoming the incoming Master Councilor of DeMolay, George Millholland. That was the start of their life together. They married on August 14, 1976, at the Centre Street United Methodist Church. Together, the United States Army helped them live in Fort Meade, Maryland, SHAPE, Belgium, Detroit, Michigan, Fort Detrick, Maryland. George was assigned to Korea and finally Fort Carson, Colorado in 1992. They have lived in Colorado Springs these past 29 years.

Preceding her in death, her parents, two sisters. Her oldest sister Lynn died the 29th of November 2021. She is survived by her husband, George, Daughter, Alison, son, Rob (wife Kristal) daughter, Melanie Grace, Grandchildren, Annalisa Rose, Sissy, Miles, Cerys. Barbara will be greatly missed.

He attended Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md., 1949 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy also a graduate of the University of Maryland and Western Maryland. College, U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked as an elementary school principal in Montgomery County, Md., where he retired in 1985 with 29 years of service. Phillip Lee Roberts, Jr. passed away June 2, 2022. He was born October 20, 1985, to Phillip Lee and Anne (Martin) Roberts, Sr. in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He graduated from Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina with the class of 2004. A fun loving and adventurous man, Phillips worked at Pizza Hut in Sumter and Canon City before finding his fit in construction. Over the years he worked for Reunion Construction, Diamond B Up to Grade, where he was known as “Ivan, Ivan” and finally at Savage where he worked at the time of his passing. To know Phillip, you understood that he loved his guitar. He even named her “Penelope.” Beside playing his guitar and singing, Phillip loved camping, archery, and guns but, more than anything, he loved his children and his family. Phillip is survived by his mother Anne Roberts; the mothers of his children, Shauna Roberts, and Victoria Cano; children Alayna Sterling-Roberts, Phillip Lee Roberts III, and Tia “Monster” Breanna Maria Cano; sisters Anne “Keff” Smith (Russell) and Patricia “Cia” Marie Roberts; Grandmother Phyllis Anne Martin as well as, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of life will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 5:00pm at The Steeple Event Center, 701 Macon Ave. Canon City, Co.
